Welcome to the Rutherford County, NC GOP website

Wednesday, May 20, 2020. The primary is over. NC law provides that in a multi person primary if no candidate gets at least 30% of the vote the second place candidate may request a runoff primary. That has happened. The Republican second primary in the 11th Congressional District will take place as planned on June 23, with significant safeguards to protect against the spread of COVID-19. All three voting options in North Carolina - absentee by-mail, in-person early voting and in-person voting on Election Day - will be available to eligible Republican and unaffiliated voters in the district. County boards of elections in the 17 counties that make up the district (includes part of Rutherford County) began mailing absentee ballots to voters who request them on Friday, May 8. The last day to request a ballot by mail is Tuesday, June 16. The in-person early voting period runs from June 4 to June 20. On Election Day, June 23, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The contest - North Carolina's only second primary in 2020 - is between Republicans Lynda Bennett and Madison Cawthorn, who are vying for the GOP nomination for U.S. House District 11. The winner will face Democrat Moe Davis, Green Party candidate Tamara Zwinak and Libertarian Tracey DeBruhl in the November 3 General Election. The Candidates page on this website (with that one exception) now reflects every candidate who will appear on the November ballot. We have included Bennett and Cawthorn on that page. We have provided links to the candidates websites where they are available. Click this link to view the candidates page.

Thursday, December 26, 2019. By now, most of you are aware that in NC, congressional districts have been redrawn under court order. For the last several years, all of Rutherford County has been in the 10th Congressional District (Patrick McHenry District). With the new redistricting, Rutherford County is moved from the 10th District and split between the 5th (Virginia Foxx) and 11th (currently Mark Meadows) districts. For Rutherford County, these changes will affect which annual district convention(s) we attend. Read more...

Saturday, November 3, 2018. Volunteers Needed! Tuesday, November 6, 2018 is Election Day. Many of you have already voted. However, we can always use help. We could use additional volunteers to work for a couple of hours each handing out GOP Voter Guides as voting is underway. We have had volunteers working at the early voting locations over the last two weeks. We have found that about half the voters are carrying a voter guide when they arrive. And, about half of the voters who do not have one cheerfully (often eagerly) accept one when we offer it to them. Those are good odds when 3/4 of the voters use the GOP voter guide.

The polls are open Tuesday from 6:30 AM until 7:30 PM. Send an email to headquarters@rcncgop.org if you can assist during any of these hours. If you would like to work at any specific precinct, let us know which precinct and what hours you would be available.

Tuesday, October 16th, 2018. Well, it has finally happened. The corrupt practices of the National Democrat Party have filtered down to the local level. Did you ever notice that the DEMs never run on issues. Their issues: Taxes? Raise them; Regulations? Never enough; Government? Spend more money' Borders? Open them' Etc., etc., etc. If they run on issues they lose. So what do they do? They resort to character assassination, fear mongering, slander, on and on. And they just make stuff up. It does not have to be true, it just has to sound like it could be true. We saw it in the Justice Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. Now these techniques are filtering down to the local level.

We are not going to point out any specific examples. Just like in the Kavanaugh case it will jump right out at you. Listen to their advertising on the radio. Read what they say. Read their quotes in the newspaper. Never any discussion of the issues. Just what horrible people those Republicans are.

Well, we are going to give you an example of a Republican who deals with issues. Click the candidates link above, scroll down to Ralph Hise, and click on his website link. Then examine his positions on the issues. It is very illuminating. Just the opposite of what a Democrat does.

The General Election ballot for Rutherford County has an incredibly good slate of Republican candidates. A few days ago the Rutherford County GOP Executive Committee put in the mail almost 16,000 Rutherford County Voter Guides. If you need one, there is a link to a printable version in the menu at the top of this page. On the Guide we listed all of the Republican candidates we are supporting. We stand behind every one of those candidates and encourage you to do the same. Don't allow yourself to be distracted by the DEMs character assassination and slander. Stick to the issues. Support your Federal, State, and local GOP candidates.

Thursday, July 26, 2018. The Rutherford County Executive Committee decided to keep the Party Headquarters at 207 N. Main in Rutherfordton open through 2019 and until the 2020 Presidential Election. Normally the Committee operates Headquarters from about April 1 of an election year through the end of November after the election. This decision poses a fund raising challenge as expenses at the Main Street location run about $1,200 per month.
